NEW YORK – The Detroit Tigers will play a doubleheader Thursday against the New York Mets after back-to-back rainouts.

Wednesday night’s matchup has already been postponed due to weather, marking the second game in a row that’s been washed out by rain in New York.

Since this is an interleague series, the Tigers and Mets aren’t scheduled to meet again during the 2024 season. Making up two rainouts on mutual off days in the future could get messy.

The Tigers and Mets were both supposed to be off Thursday before the Tigers return to Detroit for Opening Day and the Mets head to Cincinnati. Now, they’re scheduled to play a straight doubleheader, starting at 12:10 p.m.

Detroit won the first game of the series Monday with five runs in the top of the 10th innings. The two teams went to extra innings in a scoreless tie.

The win improved the Tigers’ record to a perfect 4-0. The Mets are still searching for their first win of the year.

On Friday, the Tigers were finally get to play at Comerica Park against the Oakland Athletics (weather permitting, obviously).
